Press Kit

K.D. Brinegar is the author of the Killrannoch Keep cozy mystery series — a Scottish Highland mystery series built around history, inheritance, and secrets that have been waiting a very long time to be found.

Her debut novella, Killrannoch Before the Storm, launched in December 2025. Four full-length books have followed, with Book 5 — Wills & Whispered Lies — in progress. The series follows Moira Sinclair, an estate archivist who inherits a seven-hundred-year-old Scottish castle and keeps finding reasons not to leave.

K.D. writes from Ohio. The castle is fictional. The history isn't.

Biography

K.D. Brinegar writes cozy mysteries with deep roots — in Scottish history, Highland landscapes, and the kind of family secrets that outlast the people who made them.

She grew up in Toledo, Ohio, tracing her own Scottish heritage through her grandmother's stories. When it came time to write the series she'd been quietly building, there was never any question about where it would be set.

Her Killrannoch Keep series follows Moira Sinclair — an estate archivist who reads objects the way other people read faces — through a seven-hundred-year-old castle that keeps producing new reasons to look closer.

K.D. Brinegar is the author of 6 books, including Bagpipes & Blackmail: A Killrannoch Keep Cozy Mystery and Killrannoch Before the Storm: A Killrannoch Keep Cozy Mystery - Book 0. You can sign up to get updates about their writing here.
